Cast and Crew

Karen White

The director's job is so much collaboration. Every project is about assembling the team that can make it happen. I have always been thrilled with my casting decisions. If they are right, 90% of my work is done.

Taylor Stutchbury

Writing and acting with the Leaping Thespians has been a blast. These women are amazing. I have done a lot of plays over the twenty years and these women make up one of the most positive and awe inspiring groups with whom I have ever had the pleasure of sharing theatre. Next up, pursuing music. Maybe I can convince the Leaping Thespians to do a musical...

Deloris Piper

My theatrical journey has been exciting and transformational, much like many of the characters I have played, including Curtis Hogg in Macbeth Did IT, Fanny Parker in The Vaudville Experience, Victoria in Origin of the Species and Marty in Women4Women. I would like to thank Karen for the life changing opportunity and for her amazing support - as well as some of my closest friends - who truly are the best fan club anyone could ever dream for.

Leigh Burrows

Writing, acting and directing with this group has been a giant, gleeful, soaring leap for me. In this group I have played Carter in 8x10 Glossy, Lucy and Eva in Women4Women, Ashley in Street Talk, and various roles in Once Upon A Lesbian.

Eroca Zales

In the past 5 years, Eroca has enjoyed a wide variety of roles on stage, film and radio including Mae West, a Bible-totin' battle axe, a malicious magistrate, a nurse with an axe to grind, a pot smokin' senior, a pill poppin' yuppie, an upper class twit, trailer park trash, a bag lady, an obsessive Freudian, a suicidal adulteress, a prophetess, a stone butch and two serial killers! Some highlights include The Portside, a film directed by Aerlyn Weissman; A Doll's House, Chemainus Theatre Festival; Bye Bye Baby, Third Street Series; and 8x10 Glossy, Leaping Thespians (adjudicator's award, best supporting actress GVZ 2008).

Jacqueline Becher

After originating the role of Cole in Women4Women in 2006, Jacqueline went on to produce and act in various other projects in Vancouver. She is delighted to be back in the bosom of The Leaping Thespians and is thrilled to be acting again with this fabulous group of women. She would like to thank Karen for allowing her first opportunity to direct and greatly appreciates her “gentle hand”.

Stephanie Kemp

Joining this group of witty, supportive, and creative women has been an amazing privilege. With my performance background in music, this opportunity to leap into theatre with this group has been wonderful. Writing with Leaping Thespians has allowed me to explore and develop a new area in my life. Next on the list will be stepping onto the stage.

Nancy Painter

Thank you for welcoming me to such an affirming group of performers and friends. In the past decade, my favourite roles have been Janet in Waiting for the Parade and Mrs. Savage in The Curious Savage. It was also a great privilege to be part of The Vagina Monologues for V-Day. In between, I’ve been a washerwoman, a cigar-smoking mystery writer, a hillbilly granny, a man in a garbage can, and other odd characters!

Sheila Burns

Sheila is thrilled to be working with such a wonderful group of women. Sheila completed her BFA in Acting at UBC. Some of her favourite roles are Emilia in Desdemona; A Play About A Handkerchief, The Actress in La Ronde and Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew. Sheila along with her great friend Virginia Fraser is a co-founder of Untamable Shrews.

Kiri McGuire

It's been an amazing journey to work with such a dedicated and passionate group. I've been wearing the actor's hat now for 6 years and have played Magents in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, George Noon in Cannibal! The Musical, Andy in Collage: Homage to Kurt Schwitters, and Marie in A Study from Friends.

Kari Gunderson

Dear diary, they said I was nothing but a dreamer. Having graduated from Dalhousie University with a bachelor's degree in Theatre, I am now an illustrious freelance designer masterminding world-class sets and props for theatre and film, special events decor, and interiors for homes or businesses. Ha, victory is mine!
