"A
lesbian sci-fi romp through space, Antarctica, and a microwave oven
- all comedy, all camp.
A group of female astronauts voyage to a far-off moon system to
help populate a space resort, only to find themselves aimlessly
adrift when their ship collides with unexpected wreckage. Their
complications are further interrupted by malfunctioning Sex Drive
Implants, creating a love boat of moaning and unzipped space suits.
To make matters worse, the only people who have a chance on saving
them is a dysfunctional Midwestern family on Earth, headed by a
spaced-out housewife. A hilarious comedy, Brides of the Moon surprises
with poignant portraits of lost souls reaching for connection.
WARNING: Adult content, lewd language and ridiculously bad simulated
sex.
This comedy is written by the razor-sharp satirists, The Five Lesbian
Brothers, and produced by a multi-award winning theatre group, The
Leaping Thespians. It is a bawdy, dystopic and subversive comedy."
Really, it's all shits and giggles.

The
Leaping Thespians present their original one-act comedy, Once
Upon A Lesbian. This collectively written play tells the story
of two women from the future who are sent on a mission to recover
a time capsule left behind from the Lesbian Collective, circa
2169. Defying orders, the two explore the contents and artifacts
from 100,000 B.C. to 2169 A.D. The stories in the artifacts reveal
‘the truth’ about lesbian herstory and change their
lives forever more. With over a dozen scenes, a cast of eight
actors, six directors, and over 30 costumes this is collaboration
at its best!
We
would also like to thank Theatre BC for allowing us to be a part
of their new touring program by performing this play in Nanaimo.
Special thanks to Dramaturge, Nicolle Nattrass, for her invaluable
workshop
session offered through this program.

two sides of the same street ever meet?
An art student looks for a likely street person to include in her

Can they see and acknowledge each other? Could there be a special
reason they want to?
Street Talk is a one act play written by Leaping Thespian
member Nancy Painter. It had its premiere at Actoberfest,
a one-act play festival held in Prince George in October 2008.

Glossy is a dark drama about the intimate bonds between a
lesbian, her controlling sister, and their mother on the anniversary
of their father’s death. Involved in the early days of Gay
Rights protests in 1984, when lesbian space was behind an unmarked
door at the bottom of a staircase, Carter turns to her mother
and sister for affirmation, only to ultimately feel she is a disappointment,
not a heroine. Julie feels by taking the path of least resistance
she is a disappointment to her younger, rebellious sister. The
play takes place in one evening in the back yard as the family
pulls toward each other and pushes apart, witnessed by the neighbour
and the attractive new suburban mother who befriends the family.
We
love this play because it is firmly rooted in the early 1980’s,
while exploring timeless issues in the family. There are great
roles for multi-faceted characters and relationships. The script
is a gem, well written, with good interaction and energy.

Ever
had a cyberdate? Fallen in virtual love?
Four
heroines try something new, Women4Women.com in their quests for
sex and romance. Come see a romantic comedy where the characters
meet online and get to know each other until it heats up all they
can do is meet in person with titillating results.
Women4Women evolved from a kitchen table conversation about "What
is love?" Often we fall in love before we really know who that
person is, so what are we falling in love with? Is it our fantasy
of the perfect lover? What is chemistry and can there be any if
we meet only virtually?
For
over a year, the team of six writers met weekly to talk, laugh,
cry, improvise and sometimes even put pencil to paper. At some point
the characters began writing themselves, so our job became managing
these creations and their relationships with each other. We put
a lot of each of us into this play, and we hope you, the audience,
will see a little of yourself.
